Installation Tips for Reliable Performance
The quality of installation is just as important as the waterproofing material itself. Proper substrate preparation and correct application procedures are essential to achieving the expected waterproofing performance.
Before applying the coating:
• Ensure the substrate is sound, level, clean, and free of dust, oil, laitance, and loose particles.
• Repair cracks, voids, and surface defects where necessary.
• We strongly recommend applying a primer before the waterproofing coating.
• Apply the coating according to the recommended coverage rate to achieve the required dry film thickness.
• Allow sufficient curing time between coats.
For vertical applications where the waterproofing system will be covered with ceramic tiles, additional surface treatment is recommended to ensure reliable adhesion between the waterproofing layer and the tile adhesive.
For YHPUcoat-8130 (Solvent-Based Polyurethane Waterproofing Coating):
After the final coat has fully cured, apply an additional thin coat of the polyurethane coating and broadcast clean, dry quartz sand onto the wet surface to create a mechanical bonding key. Once the coating has cured, remove any loose or excess sand before applying the tile adhesive to ensure a strong bond between the waterproofing layer and the tile finish.
For YHPUcoat-8118 (Waterborne Polyurethane Waterproofing Coating):
After the polyurethane coating has fully cured, prepare an interface treatment compound by mixing YHPrimer-1000 with cement to form a putty-like consistency. Apply this compound evenly over the cured waterproofing layer to create a suitable bonding surface. Once it has cured, ceramic tiles can be installed using an appropriate tile adhesive.
